Song Portraits
In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Detroit Song Collective, alongside the Chamber Music Society of Detroit and Wayne State University’s Humanities Department launched Song Portraits as a creative way to connect local Detroit artists through uncertain time. From this project, came 7 world premiere poems and songs written by MARS Marshall, ML Liebler, Caroline Maun, and Alexandra Smereka and set to music by Dr. Norah Duncan, Dr. Brandon Waddles, Dr. Jon Anderson, and Logan Hahn. Vocalists were Ashley Baylor, Ben Niedeck, Stephen Reisen, AJ “Elijah” White, Jenna Dell, Chris Reid, and Ang Mason, all accompanied by the phenomenal Steve McGhee. Our visual artists were Angela Ficorelli, Jossa Washington, Rachel Cullon, and Ian Masie.
Sacred Spirituals on Palm Sunday
Another event held at North Hills Church, featuring arrangements by Dr. Norah Duncan IV and Dr. Brandon Waddles, and performances by Pastor Randall Engle (piano), Caitlin Lynch, Jonathan Lasch, Ashley Baylor, Ryan Bowie, and Chris Reid.
